motivated by yoshitaka amano.

i've always been impressed with how yoshitaka amano created a very original style of art for himself. if you know him, you'd be able to automatically tell if a piece belongs to him or not. for some reason, when i look at his pieces i think "pop art" and also "traditional art", which really doesn't make sense but it's just how i observe things. i really love his art, from the smallest little details to the washed out colors to the bold, solid colors. when i look at it, i get this weird feeling in my stomach. everything looks pretty but dull at the same time, and it makes me feel really nostalgic for some reason. i don't know how to put my feelings into words when i see amano's work, but it's definitely something. now i'm just rambling.

this is giving me a pretty good idea of how i want my self-portrait surrealism piece is going to turn out. i'm excited to dedicate some time into this.

  2. Ok, the weird testing post was me. Not sure why is says anonymous. Anyways- I love your description of the art and how it makes you feel. I love the line quality and texture in his art. Watercolor paper might be nice with pen, ink, watercolors and colored pencils for your piece.
